When Andrea Mosby speaks of change and progress, there's an unmistakable sense of certainty and commitment in her voice. It's also the voice of experience, based on a long and wide-ranging career in business, political administration and now as Director of Special Needs for the Denver Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

"I come from a huge family—I have 7 sisters and a brother." Born and raised in South Bend, Indiana, Andrea came to Colorado twenty-five years ago to complete undergraduate and graduate degrees in Urban and Regional Planning. Then, about 7 years ago, she had an opportunity to work for the governor of Colorado, managing his Advocacy Office. Over the years, she had also been doing volunteer public speaking for BSA groups, so when the governor's term ended, she became a professional Scout.

As Director of Special Needs for the Denver Area Council, Andrea helps bring Scouting and Learning for Life experiences to young people with disabilities and special challenges. "Being able to impact a population that Scouting is not known for impacting has been rewarding. It makes you feel that your life really stands for something." Whether it's motivational speaking, arranging tours for Special Education students, or writing grants to secure program funding, Andrea invests the effort with commitment and passion. "The most powerful part of working for Scouting is being blessed to work with Special Needs kids."
